Eclipse 95B White won the boys high
school "Black" bracket at the recent Klein Thanksgiving Tournament. 95
White won all four of its matches and conceded just one goal in winning
the tournament.

Eclipse scores big
in cancer fund-raiser
Eclipse Soccer Club players did
more than just turn Lost Creek Park pink in October … they helped raise
$6,772 for breast cancer support programs during the unique Score for
the Cause fund-raiser. The money came from the sale of pink Score
for the Cause T-shirts as well as parent and team donations for goals
scored during matches held in October.
The
funds will be used for breast cancer support and awareness programs for
women in need, administered by Fort Bend Junior Service League and
Eclipse sponsor Methodist Sugar Land Hospital. And all monies raised
will be used right here in Fort Bend County. Eclipse Soccer Club thanks
all the players, parents, team managers, volunteers and others who
helped make the inaugural Score for the Cause a real success. Your
generosity is appreciated!

Eclipse 92B Black
shines at showcase
Congratulations to
Eclipse 92B Black for an outstanding performance at the Capital Area
Soccer League (CASL) Showcase Soccer Series in Raleigh, N.C., on Dec.
11-12.
Eclipse
92 Black, led by boys Director of Coaching Luis Labastida, turned more
than a few heads at the renowned showcase by defeating Chicago Fire
Academy 1-0 as well as a team from Virginia, 2-1. The team is managed
by John Carrion.
The CASL
Showcase was held in conjunction with the NCAA Men’s College Cup in
nearby Cary, N.C.

Black competes in prestigious Surf Cup
Eclipse 93B
Black traveled to San Diego over the Thanksgiving
weekend to play in the prestigious Surf College Cup,
attended by 350 college coaches from across the United
States. 93 Black competed in a bracket with South Bay
Force 93, United Futbol Black and Davis SC Legacy, all
from California. The team finished third thanks to a
2-2 draw with Davis SC Legacy and goal differential in
its other matches.

Eclipse 99 Black finishes second
in Klein tournament

Eclipse 99B
Black took second place in the top bracket of the 13th
annual Klein Thanksgiving tournament, compiling a 3-0-0
record in pool play with decisive wins over Dallas
Texans and Chivas and a hard-fought victory over
Houstonians Red.In the final, 99 Black lost a close 3-2
match to LAFC Houstonians. The team is managed by Mike
Briggs.

Eclipse
alumnus Restrepo honored
Former Eclipse Soccer Club player David Restrepo has
been named to the 2009 Centennial Conference
All Academic Honor Roll.
Restrepo,
a starting defender for Haverford College near Philadelphia, was honored
by conference officials for his athletic and academic achievements. Restrepo
played in all 17 games this fall for the Fords. He is pictured here at
left scoring the winning goal on a header against Curry College.
Restrepo is a sophomore majoring in urban planning at Haverford. He is
a 2008 graduate of Houston’s St. Thomas High School.

U15 boys finish first in Division III
The U15 boys recreational team,
coached by Martin Thompson, went unbeaten during Fall 2009 and earned a
first-place finish in HYSA Division III play. The team had seven wins
and a single draw in eight matches, compiling a goal differential of
+17. Congratulations on an outstanding season!

Eclipse player named to Dynamo Academy team
Congratulations to Ricky Balmaceda of
Eclipse 93B Premier, who signed with the Houston Dynamo Academy last
week. The 16-year-old midfielder/forward played his first matches with
the Dynamo Academy over the weekend. Way to go, Ricky!

goes 'pink'
Eclipse 95B Black
poses proudly in the club's Score for the Cause T-shirts after a recent
State Classic League match. The shirts are part of Eclipse Soccer
Club's month-long program to raise funds for breast cancer research and
awareness. Eclipse teams are also collecting donations for every goal
scored during October, and players are "turning Lost Creek Park pink" by
wearing the Score for the Cause shirts during training sessions
throughout the month.

White advanced to the finals
of the U15 Silver bracket at the 26th Annual Houston Labor Day
Tournament before falling 5-0 to Westside Pumas. The boys’
second-place finish included round-robin wins over teams from Cy-Fair
and West Brazos and a 4-2 win over Lake Jackson SC Freedom in the
semi-finals. For much of the weekend, White was forced to play

Eclipse 95
White girls off to a strong start
With nine new players
on the roster, Eclipse 95 White kicked off its fall 2009 season with a
second-place finish in the U15 Open Division of the Texas Rush Cup.In bracket play, 95 White tallied seven
goals from six different players to defeat Division 1 teams from Space City and
National Fusion, before falling in the finals 2-1 to Dynamo.

Eclipse teams warm up with hot performances
A number of Eclipse teams turned in stellar performances during
preseason tournament play the weekend of Aug. 22-23. Eclipse 92B Black
won all three of its matches in the U18 Cup bracket of the Texas Warm-Up
Cup, and Eclipse 95G Black also went 3-0 in the Aggieland Friendship
tournament in College Station, playing against U16 teams.
In
the Texas Rush Cup, Eclipse 94G White won the U16 Competitive bracket,
besting Rush Swoosh in a shootout to clinch the final. The girls
converted all five kicks in the shootout to earn the win. White’s
defense got the job done in bracket play by not conceding a single goal.

Piña earns spot in
US residency program

Fernando Piña, goalkeeper with U17 Eclipse Premier, has been selected to be part
of US Soccer's residency program in Bradenton, Fla. This opportunity is limited
to the top 40 U17 players in the country. Fernando will be living and training
with the USMNT youth program in Florida beginning this fall. Congratulations,

Schuster named to
ODP Region III pool

Eclipse 96 Black player Mason Schuster was recently selected to the Region III
Olympic Development Program player pool based upon his performance at the
regional camp this July in Tuscaloosa, Ala. Mason earned his way to the regional
camp by being named to the U13 South Texas ODP first team. Way to go Mason! |

Recreational
schedule begins Sept. 12

Recreational coaches, parents and players … mark
your calendars for the weekend of Sept. 12-13. That’s when the Eclipse fall
recreational season will kick off with matches in First Colony and Sienna
Plantation.
The club will e-mail coaches with information about the first weekend’s matches
so that details can be passed along to parents and players. The full schedule
will be posted on the Eclipse website in September. |

Eclipse 91 Black place 3rd in Southern Regionals
Eclipse U18 boys won 4 games and lost 1 in USYSNC
Regional Championships in Dallas June 18-24. They lost
in the semifinals to the eventual Regional Champions DSC
90 Green. Along the way they defeated teams from North
Carolina, Oklahoma, Arkansas and, in a tense scoreless
game, defeated the nationally ranked Dallas Texans 91
Red in a penalty shootout. Congratulations boys on a
great Cup run!

Eclipse 92/93 Premier finish 3rd in Southern Regionals
The U16 boys also finished in the bronze medal position
in USYSNC Southern Regionals in Dallas. They won 2 games
and tied one in bracket play before defeating Tennessee
State Champs KFC 93 Crush Blue in the quarter finals and
going out to eventual winners CESA 92 Premier from South
Carolina. Congratulations boys on a great Championships!

Eclipse U13 Boys Win President’s Cup Regional
Championships
Eclipse 96 Black won the President’s Cup U.S. Region 3
Championship in South Carolina June 11-14, 2009. The
team won all 5 games, with 14 goals for and goals
against. Nicholas Fillip and Trinidad Luna were selected
by the coaches as Tournament MVPs. Trinidad had 10
assists on the weekend and Nicholas, our center
defender, scored 6 of the team’s 14 goals - one in every
game and both goals in the final. 5 of his 6 goals were
headers off of corner kicks. For more information see

U16 Eclipse Premier
92/93 win State!
Eclipse 92/93 Premier U16 boys won USYSNC State Finals
over the June 6-7 weekend. With two wins and a loss they
went into their final game against the Indios from El
Paso in first place tied on points with the Indios. The
final game was an exciting finish to the weekend's games
with Eclipse prevailing 3-2 to take the State title.
Congratulations to the boys who advance to Regionals in
Dallas on June 18-24.

Eclipse U13 Boys win Presidents Cup State Finals
The Eclipse 96 Black won the President's Cup State
Championship on May 23-24. The team won the championship
with a solid defense that held opponents to only 1 goal
over the 10 game cup play, while scoring 22 goals
against their opponents. The team was undefeated, with 8
wins and 2 draws. The boys travel to Greer, South
Carolina to compete in the U.S. Regional Championship
June 11-14, where the President's Cup state champions
from 12 states meet for a festive tournament to crown a
U.S. Regional champion. Good luck in South Carolina,
boys!

Eclipse 96 Girls win Albion Memorial Day Tournament
Eclipse 96 Red girls finished out their U13 year by
winning the rain-shortened Albion Memorial Weekend
tournament. After an opening 3-0 win against Austin
United Capital Blue team, Eclipse trailed 0-1 at
halftime of their second game against Texas Nationals,
but then exploded for 4 goals in the final 30 minutes to
prevail 4-1. Facing a Division 1 team (Austin United
Capitals Navy) on Sunday
morning, the girls continued their excellent play
(despite a heavy rain for 10 minutes) and prevailed 2-0
to advance to the Championship game. When a lightning
and rain storm submerged the Zube Park fields, we were
declared the U13 Girls Champion, amassing 28 points to
the second place Nationals with 17 points.

Eclipse 94 Girls place second in Albion Memorial Day
Tournament
Eclipse 94 Red girls finished out their U15 year with a
second place finish in the Albion Memorial Weekend
tournament. After an opening 0-0 tie against the Div 1
Classic AHFC 94G Black. The team also tied AHFC White,
and
Austin Capital BLUE
team to get to the finals after a three way tie for
second place. In the final game the ladies lost to Div
1 Texas National 2-0. Thanks to Nathan, and Bob for
training us well.

Eclipse 94 G-01 advances
in South Texas Cup
The
INFERNOS! Eclipse 94 G-01 qualified for the South Texas
Cup Eastern District tournament May 16-17 with a record
of 4-2. The girls secured their place in the tournament
with a dominating 4-1 victory over the Sugar Land
Express in their final qualifying match.

Eclipse 98 Red Boys runners up in Tax Tournament
Despite the rain, wind, & muddy conditions, The 98 Red
U11 Boy's team won three games in the Tax Time
Tournament at George Bush Park on April 25-26, 2009.
They ended the tournament with the SECOND place trophy
in the silver bracket.What a great accomplishment for
the 98 Red U11 Boy's team. They scored a total of 12
goals in 4 games and only had 7 goals against them. WAY
TO GO RED. Special thanks to Trainers/Director Luis,
Bobby, and Andy as well as Managers John and Adrian.

Grey advances in South Texas Cup
Eclipse 96
Grey finished first in 2009 South Texas Cup qualifying with a
6-1 record, earning the right to represent HYSA in the Eastern
District tournament May 16-17. The girls clinched the top spot
by coming back from a 2-0 deficit in their final qualifying
match against a team from Sugar Land Soccer Club, scoring three
goals in the final 20 minutes to win 3-2. Grey conceded a
league-low five goals in seven matches this spring while scoring
16. This is the second straight year that Grey has advanced to
the South Texas Cup Eastern District tournament.

Want to thank you for

Easter Tournament Champs!
Congratulations to Eclipse 97 Black girls for winning their
division in the 16th Annual Houston Easter Invitational! This
was their first tournament on the big field, playing up in the
U13 age group. Not only they loved the big field, they won four
games in a row! They won the final after two 10-minute overtime
periods and scoring the winning goal with 25 seconds to go!

Eclipse U12 Black won the Texas Heat Wave Winter Tournament.

very pleased to announce two key appointments in our
training staff. Joining Mac McCallum, current Girls
Director of Coaching, will be Luis Labastida, as Boys
Director of Coaching, and David “Eddie” Edwards as
Academy Director of Coaching. There is an extremely
strong sense of loyalty and ownership to the Club and
its success, shared by all three directors of coaching,
with an understanding that they have the opportunity to
create a very special soccer environment, taking the
club to the next level. |

These changes
will take effect on March 1, 2009. During the next few weeks
Luis will begin the integration process of being at the fields
meeting parents and players but maintaining his duties as
Academy Director. During the spring season he will continue to
support the Academy program with sessions and game coverage and
boys teams when available or necessary. Eddie will work with the
Academy training staff to continue to build momentum in the
program. |
